Barleone, imported from Germany in July 2004, was specifically selected to compliment American-bred mares and offers a unique pedigree.
His inspection scores were exceptional with an overall rating of 8.9, First Premium Premier. Judges’ comments included “Excellent young stallion with good natural balance and gaining in confidence. Superb carriage and elasticity and enough suspension. Excellent attitude and work ethic.”
Barleone’s sire, Barnaul, foaled in 1985 is approved and registered with the Holsteiner Verband. His sire Club House xx is Irish-born. Barnaul’s dam is from a Polish strain that produced outstanding event horses and international show jumpers. Barnaul had a very successful racing career then became highly successful at show jumping competitions, and excelled at cross-country courses. His offspring are very true to type and endowed with fluent paces.
Barleone’s dam, Hiske is by the great Corleone, who begin his show jumping career in 1989, and immediately was a winner in the International Jumper Ring. Corleone’s sire, Caletto II sired the mare Classic Touch 1992 Olympic champion. His dam Elite II also produced the international competition mare Las Vegas. Corleone was initially at stud in Wahrden from 1986, until he went to the Netherlands in 1993. He has six approved sons and five premium state mares as well a large number of top show jumpers.
Barleone’s sibling, Butcher, competed at the 2004 Sydney Olympic Games competing in eventing and another sibling, Barinello was Reserve Champion at the German Holsteiner Verband Koering in Holstein.
Barleone made his debut in the jumper ring in 2007 and carried on the winning tradition of his great ancestors. After years in the breeding barn, Barleone entered the dressage arena for the first time in 2016 and was the Zone Silver Stirrup Reserve Champion.
Barleone’s has proven himself in the breeding barn as he consistently improves his get.
